my talk show tonight! (please read)

Tonight at 6:00pm Eastern time I will be having my talk show. Tonight’s subject is Child Abuse And It’s Affect On Adult Survivors. You can join the chat and listen to the show by going to my show page HERE.

I would love for you to call in and talk with me about your experiences OR to ask me questions about my abuse, my blog, etc. The number to call in is : (646) 716-9673 , that is a permanent number for my show so you can always use it when I am on the air.

Tonight’s show is very important to me and I hope it will be to you. I want to hear your experiences, your thoughts.  Even if you aren’t a survivor/victim and you advocate or have strong opinions on this issue please call in!

I also have an official website for my show. I am working on the layout and content now and when it is ready to be unveiled I will give you all the link. I plan on having a forum for survivors there, a safe place we can all talk privately. Again, I will let you know when I launch it! 🙂

Hope to see you all at my show in just a few short hours!

Reminder :-)

My first talk show is tonight at 6:00pm Eastern/3:00pm Pacific. I didn’t choose a topic to talk about because this show is basically just about getting my feet wet, learning the controls and things like that. So whatever you all want to discuss we will talk about. 🙂 Once I get into the groove I will have specific topics for the shows, and hopefully some awesome surprises!

Just go to my show page Mad As A Hatter to tune in. I will have the chatroom opened about 15 minutes before the show starts. Once you are at my page the blue player at the top SHOULD start automatically (once my show is on air) so you can listen and if you scroll down the page just a teeny bit, the chat should be there. I am crossing my fingers that it all works like it should hahaha.

Make an account there (it’s free) and fave my show AND friend me! Hope to see you all there and TALKING to me. You can also chat in the chat room with anyone else there AND with me. 🙂

See ya there.

Hmmmmmmm

I was looking at my stats, since of course I had to “start over” with them cause I moved my blog (which had thousands of views *SIGH*), thanks to my family stalking me. I noticed that by leaps and bounds my “Autism and Me” blog is the most viewed. I like that, because it means people are reading and maybe understanding more about Autism and more about ME and how I am. Soooo, that got me thinking. Are there any subjects YOU (my readers) would like to see me blog about? That might be interesting. Let you all give me suggestions and I will blog about ’em. Of course this probably won’t get any comments *le sigh*, but we will see how it goes.

Another thing I have to wonder, same as my other blog, I get tons of visitors, but few comments. Why is that? Are people afraid to comment, I mean I don’t bite…..hard. Or is it something else? I love commenting on other people’s blogs, so I guess I don’t understand what’s so hard about commenting. It only takes  a few seconds (or minutes if you really write a long comment). So, yeah, if you don’t mind, tell me why you read and do not comment.

My pain is about a 9 on a 1-10 scale. I am going for a hot shower to see if I can get SOME relief.

I’m out.

WOW another blog today?

This is just a fun post…I was awarded/”tagged” by mile191to do this and I am going to! HAHA!

Honest Scrap Award

Honest Scrap Award

I now have to post 10 honest things about myself, then “award” others to do it. Hmmm who will I choose? LMAO
10 Honest Things About Me:
  • I am germ-phobic, very germ-phobic. I can’t stand anything to be dirty, my apartment is hospital clean, (probably MORE clean that a hospital haha).  I can’t stand touching things out in public unless I clean it off with hand sanitizer. (Yes I am addicted to hand sanitizer!). I am afraid I have made my youngest the same way–I guess it’s better to be a bit germ-phobic for a kid than to just run around not washing your hands, sharing drinks (eeek), and things like that with other kids!
  • I am autistic (High functioning). I don’t get jokes, I take things literally, I have a hard time functioning socially. I can’t look most people in the eyes, so that tends to make people think that because of my looks I am conceited or a snob, I am SO not either. I love my autism in some ways, I am a musical genius and I graduated with a 4.0 average in high school and my IQ is 162 hahaha. So it’s not ALL bad to be autistic. 😉
  • I am a list maker, I make lists about everything, it is an obsession. haha
  • I am bi-sexual.
  • I am being treated for many “mental illnesses”, PTSD, OCD, GAD, Suicidal Tendencies, Severe Depression and Intermittent Explosive Disorder. La de daaaa.
  • I am legally blind. That is why I bold all my entries and comments to others, so I can read them!
  • I am pierced 14 times, and have 7 tattoos. You can ask me where if you want. haha 😉
  • I have real fangs, they can’t be removed. They were done when I was 22. *fanged smile*
  • My eyes are really violet, no contacts and I am really almost 6’8 hahaha.
  • I hate light, it hurts my eyes. I prefer to be in the dark or candlelight. I don’t like the sun either, unless I am at the beach and have my shades! haha

Ok time for me to “award”. Hmm, I don’t know that many people on here, so I will award, D, Kevin and anyone else who wants to do it. Just let me know you did it so I can read it on your blogs! 😉 Just copy the image and put in your own blogs!

World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day and I just want to put out some links, some facts, etc. I want people to be aware, to be tested, to be safe!

AIDS has become a global pandemic, it affects different populations in different ways. It is NOT “The Gay Disease”. In fact, the CDC has shown that the virus first came from a subspecies of chimpanzees native to west equatorial Africa. They say it most likely jumped to humans after hunters (bad, bad) hunted chimps for meat (yuck) and came into contact with their diseased blood. The virus slowly spread across Africa, then to other parts of the world.

The earliest known case of HIV-1 in a human was from a blood sample collected in 1959 from a man in Kinshasa. Analysis of the blood sample said that HIV-1 may have come from a single virus in the late 40’s, early 50’s. Researchers know that the AIDS virus has existed in the USA since the mid to late 70’s. It wasn’t until 1982 that researchers actually started to use the term “acquired immunodeficiency syndrome,” or AIDS. In 1983, scientists discovered the virus that causes AIDS. The virus was at first named HTLV-III/LAV (human T-cell lymphotropic virus-type III/lymphadenopathy- associated virus) by an international scientific committee. This name was later changed to HIV.

How you can and cannot catch AIDS:

You CAN catch AIDS from:

  • Having sex with an infected person…anal, vaginal and oral.
  • Sharing needles (bad bad) with an infected person
  • Being a fetus exposed during childbirth.
  • Being an infant who breast feeds.
  • You can (but it is highly unlikely) get it through a blood transfusion. Testing of blood since 1985 has made almost impossible.

How you CANNOT catch AIDS:

  • Casual kissing, hugging, shaking hands, touching.
  • Eating after someone with AIDS.
  • Drinking after someone with AIDS.
  • Eating in a restaurant where a worker has AIDS
  • Toilet seats
  • Touching money
  • Mosquitoes
  • Touching a doorknob after an infected person (you are much more likely to get a cold or the flu you know)
  • Water fountains

See, there are more ways you cannot get it, than ways you can. It all comes down to being SAFE.

Here are some links for you to check out. Remember AIDS/HIV is NOT the “gay” disease. It affects men, women AND children.

20 questions…

Ok, the last few days have been HELL for me. I don’t want to rant, I just want to do something fun and interesting soooo, I am going to put some questions out here and you can answer them. I hope it makes you think, makes you feel and that you have fun with it. It will be interesting to see how everyone answers!  I will answer as comments come in and give my opinions! 🙂

  1. If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
  2. What albums/CDs are on your top 10 list of all time favorites?
  3. If you could only have ONE electronic device/gadget, what would you choose and why?
  4. I am going to give you the standard: If you had three wishes, what would you wish for and why? (No wishing for more wishes HAHA)
  5. We learn “life lessons” nearly everyday–what are the biggest life lessons you have learned and what did they teach you?
  6. Do you play any musical intruments? if so which ones?
  7. Who are your heroes?
  8. If you could change ONE thing in your life–without it affecting other aspects, what would you change?
  9. What defines you?
  10.  Your best childhood memory?
  11.  Since we are online, I want to ask–What do you think is the biggest problem the internet has caused you personally? What about the world as a whole?
  12.  We just had the election, let me ask you–if you were President what would you change about the country? What would be your first priorities and why? (This is NOT a question to discuss who won the election or get into a debate, please).
  13.  What do you think of “cyber-bullies”?  Is there anything we can do to stop it? Should there be laws in place to protect those who are bullied?
  14.  I am a survivor of child abuse–mental, physical and sexual. I am also an advocate for children and abuse survivors. What do you think should be done to child abusers and pedophiles? (Please do not get yourself in trouble by saying things you shouldn’t–or that would break the law. I don’t want anyone in deep doo-doo because of my question. hah)
  15.  What do you think is going to happen to our economy? People are saying we are heading for another depression. What do you think? Can we turn things around before we hit rock bottom?
  16.  Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? If so tell me your opinions on it, if not, tell me why you feel there isn’t. (This is also not a question for debating if there is a God, nor to bash each others beliefs or religions, I won’t allow comments that to do this.)
  17.  Have you ever been betrayed–by a friend, a spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.? How did you deal with it?
  18.  Do you think there is life on other planets, in other galaxies? Tell me your thoughts on it.
  19.  It’s almost Thanksgiving–tell me what you are thankful for this year.
  20.  We will end this on a funny note. Tell me your most embarrassing moment.
